Della Hood-Laster possesses over 3 decades of experience in the securities industry in both the government and private sectors. At the Office of State Treasurer for the State of Connecticut, Ms. Laster held the dual position of Investment Officer and Head Trader overseeing the then $6 billion equity pension fund for the state’s employees.
Ms. Laster joined Loomis Sayles & Company outside Detroit, MI as a Vice President and Equity Trader. In this position, Ms. Laster managed the firm’s trading activities for their small and large cap value portfolios. In 2002, Ms. Laster joined Piedmont Investment Advisors in Durham, NC to head their Equity Trading desk where she manages all of the firm’s equity trading.
Ms. Laster is a longtime member of the National Association Securities Professional (NASP) and serves on its Board of Directors. As a member of NASP, Ms. Laster has co-chaired the NASP Mentor Luncheon. This annual event encourages college students to consider a career in the financial sector and introduces them to securities professionals from some of the industries top companies.
Currently, Ms. Laster is the Past President of the Carolina Security Traders Association, and a member of the National Organization of Investment Professional (NOIP). Past affiliations include memberships with The Investment Traders Advisory Council to the New York Stock Exchange and North Oakland Medical Center in Pontiac Michigan. Ms. Laster also served locally on the Center for Children & Family Health, Leadership Council in Durham, NC.
